Earls Croome Village Hall Health & Safety Policy

The Earls Croome Village Hall Management Committee has overall responsibility for the health and safety at the village hall. Our policy is to provide safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for hirers and users alike.

We aim to achieve this by keeping the hall and its equipment in safe and maintained condition and by providing such advice and information as is necessary for hirers and users. We will comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and act positively where we can reasonably do so to prevent injury, ill health or any danger arising from its activities and operations.

The Earls Croome Village Hall Management Committee considers the promotion of health and safety of those who use or work at its premises to be of great importance. It recognises that the effective prevention of accidents depends as much on a committed attitude to safety as on the operation and maintenance of equipment, property and the implementation of safe systems of work.

Users,hirers and contractors will be expected to recognise that there is a duty on them to comply with all relevant safety requirements as well as those set out in the hiring agreement and take responsibility to do everything they can to prevent injury and comply with safety notices displayed on the premises to keep themselves and all around safe. It is the duty of the hirers, users and other visitors to take care of themselves and others who may be affected by their activities and to co-operate fully with the requirements of the Management Committee to keep the premises safe and healthy.

It is the responsibility of the hirers to ensure that adequate and appropriate safeguarding provisions are in place to protect the well-being of any children, disabled or vulnerable individuals.

Generally should anyone using the hall discover a fault, damage or other situation which might cause injury they should contact the Booking Secretary as soon as possible so that the problem can be addressed.

Fire Safety Issues:

In view of the Village Hall’s timber construction the Management Committee consider that fire safety is a priority for all users so the issues and resultant restrictions are stressed to hirers at point of booking.

A plan of the hall showing the fire fighting equipment, fire exits and service isolation points is available on the website and a copy is displayed on the hall noticeboard alongside the main entrance.

A Fire Action Plan is displayed on the hall noticeboard alongside the main entrance.

An occupancy assessment has been completed with regard to maximum number of occupants permitted for the premises area and for its safe evacuation (High Risk premises).
